Project work

Build something real with your hands and learn from those who know the craft. Our first projects involved turning reclaimed fencing into bird boxes that were sold on the market and at the car boot sale. We are sorting several thousand pieces of Lego out for reuse and/or sale.

Fund raising

Whilst we are grateful for gifts and sponsorships, we actively try to raise funds ourselves to keep The Shed alive.

Community projects

Put your skills to work for something that benefits the Barnard Castle community and the Dale beyond. We are very enthusiastic for Projects that contribute to the Dale Community, e.g. Gainford Surgery well-being garden, event props for The Hub and several town bench refurbishments.

Enhancing Well Being Garden

We have constructed raised beds, a split level potting bench, a wildlife pond and a hedgehog ramp for the garden at Gainford Surgery

Build Bird Boxes

Building bird boxes was our first project and is ongoing. A useful revenue stream. Also Owl boxes, insect hotels and planters.

Refurbishment of Benches

We completed the restoration of a silver jubilee bench seat in Barney and have several more bench seats in the pipeline.
