About Teesdale Shed
A place where blokes gather to make things, share skills, and build community.
Pop in and discover what we're all about.
We are a group of, mostly retired, chaps who get together every Thursday in Barnard Castle either at the TCR Hub, or our secondary site in The Barn. We enjoy a cuppa, indulge in some friendly banter and make things for the community or for ourselves.
We are excited to be quietly developing a second site, The Barn, but it’s on private land and we’re not ready to go public with the location at present. It’s used on the Thursdays we are not at The Hub, and sometimes other days, often for special projects. We can keep our larger power tools at The Barn as we have secure storage there that is not shared by other groups. In addition, there is an opportunity to build our own social room on this site from a reclaimed summer house.
Please check our meeting dates and locations on our Diary page.
Membership is currently set at a very reasonable £25 per annum. This is to cover costs such as hiring the facility. We don’t anticipate asking for further money except maybe for optional special projects, etc.
The Shed was established to promote personal development, positive mental health and physical activities for the benefit of men from and in around Teesdale by providing a safe and enjoyable environment where its members can make friendships and...
• Pursue hobbies, pastimes and interests.
• Learn new skills, practice and pass on existing skills.
• Help towards each other’s health and well-being.
We train members on the safe operation of mechanical equipment.
More information on the goals of the Men’s Shed movement can be found on the UKMSA website.
The current officers of Teesdale Shed are:
• Mark Meadows, Chair
• Peter Colley, Secretary
• Richard Witham, Treasurer
• Herb Payne, Membership Secretary
It is anticipated that further officers will be co-opted onto the management committee as membership increases.
The financial year for Teesdale Shed commences on April 1st of each year.
Our inaugural meeting was in May 2025, and we’re still developing, so we’re always open to good ideas.
We gratefully receive donations of tools and equipment that we refurbish and use at The Shed or sell to raise funds.
If you’re not already a member, why not drop into a session at The Hub and get a feel for what we’re like. You’d be very welcome.
